Friends of PLB elects new officers during annual meeting

Friends Volunteer Award winners Charles and Frances Bennett, LPB President/CEO Beth Courtney and President’s Award winner Dr. Rani Whitfield.

Robyn Merrick was elected the new Chair of the Friends of LPB Board at the Friends annual meeting on Sept. 9 at the LPB Telecommunications Center. Other members of the Executive Committee include Vice-Chair Donna Ewing, Treasurer Dan Hare, Secretary Carole Martin Baxter and Immediate Past Chair Phillip Juban. Robert Levy of Baton Rouge is the newest member of the Friends Board, which also re-appointed Harrison Smith to a second three-year term.

Also honored with President’s Awards at the event were State Representative Jim Fannin of Jonesboro and Dr. Rani Whitfield, the host of Louisiana: The State We’re In’s monthly “Prescription for Health” segment. Friends Volunteer Awards were presented to Frances and Charles Bennett.
