Atkinson, Charles Walter “Chuck”

He was a resident of French Settlement and former resident of Baton Rouge. He passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Harvest Manor Nursing Home in Denham Springs at the age of 84. He was a longtime member of Healing Place Church. He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953, and worked in furniture sales in the Baton Rouge area for over 40 years. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Bourgeois, Milton P.

He was age 85 and passed away on August 1, 2014. He was a native of Brignac and a resident of St. Amant. He was a welder/millwright employed at Burnside Terminal for 26 years prior to his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years in Guam. Burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Bunfill, Brady J.

A native of Shadyside, OH and a resident of Gonzales, he passed away in Meridian, MS on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the age of 59. He was a field service engineer. A visitation and Mass were held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 6.

Buratt, Alice Faye Anderson “Pookie”

A native of Prairieville, she was born on January 17, 1938, and passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at age 76. She was a retired cook/homemaker. Burial in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Calhoun Sr., John Mack

A native of Collins, MS, and longtime resident of Prairieville, he passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at his home. He was 79 and retired as the Chief Fire Communications Officer with the Baton Rouge Fire Department. He also served his country during the Korean Conflict as a U.S. Marine. He graduated from Gilbert High School and later became a Mason, Gideon, and Deacon at Ascension Baptist Church and also served as Chairman of the Board of the Fellowship Center in Gonzales for 10 years. He was honored by Volunteer Ascension for his work with The Fellowship Center. He also was a member of Builders for Christ. Burial in Oak Lane Memorial Park, Prairieville.

LeBoeuf, Marietta Falcon “Yetta”

She was 90 and passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014. She was a native and resident of Donaldsonville. She was retired from Bellsouth as a telephone operator for 30 years. Interment in Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church cemetery.

Louque, Verly Theresa (Lambert)

She passed away with Alzheimer's at age 86 on August 1, 2014. A native of St. Amant and a longtime resident there and in Lutcher. She was a devout Catholic who over the years attended several churches: Holy Rosary in St. Amant, Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Lutcher, St. Joseph in Paulina, and St. Mark in Gonzales. She participated in several choirs and prayer meetings, taught Catechism classes, attended a Cursillo in which she assisted in later Retreats, and performed her duties in the Ladies Altar Society. Entombment in St. Joseph Catholic Church Mausoleum, Paulina.

Mire, Donnie Dale “Uncle D”

A lifelong resident of Gonzales, he passed away of natural causes Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the age of 82. He was trumpet leader in the Gonzales High School Band and attended LSU on a band scholarship. He was employed by Ormet for 17 years before becoming self-employed in the trucking business. While at Ormet, he was the chairman for March of Dimes. He was a member of the Ascension Parish Sheriff Flotilla, the Gonzales Country Club, the Gonzales Boat Club, and the Gonzales Committee for Cultural Affairs. He was Jambalaya Champion in 1970 and 1979, cooking for the San Francisco 49ers and for President Jimmy Carter on the White House Lawn. He was featured as Jambalaya Champion in a 1971 National Geographic Society Publication entitled Mighty Mississippi. Interment in Cornerview Cemetery in Gonzales.

Phillips Jr., Henry

He was born on August 12, 1922 and departed on July 31, 2014, in Gonzales. He was 91. Burial in The Christian Assembly Full Gospel Baptist Church cemetery.

Poché, Winnie Marie

She passed on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the age of 94. She was a native of Head of Island. She retired from the Ascension Parish School system as a Lunchroom Supervisor at Gonzales High School with 28 years of service. Burial in Prairieville Community Cemetery.

Trichel, Charles “Rick”

He passed away at his home on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10 a.m. He was 77. Interment in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Prairieville. He served as president of 450 Hunting Club for over 30 years. He also belonged to Painters Local Union.

Vitter, Samuel Lee “Sam”

He was a native of New Orleans, raised in Ponchatoula and a resident of Prairieville. He passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Prairieville at the age of 56. He was a retired Squad IV Patrol Lieutenant with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office with 32 years of service and a former Army National Guardsman holding the rank of First Lieutenant. Interment in Oak Lane Memorial Park in Prairieville. He was a member of the Coastal Conservation Association and also Tigeritaville Tailgating member for L.S.U.

Waggenspack, Harold Jude

He was born in Modeste in 1924 and passed away on August 1, 2014. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served both in Occupied Japan and Korea, and was a member of American Legion Post 81. He was a mail carrier in Darrow, worked at DOW Freeport, and retired from ORMET Corporation. He was an unofficial greeter at 11:30 Mass at St. John the Evangelist. Entombment in Hope Haven Mausoleum.

White, Evelyn Marie Laiche

She passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. She was 70. Entombment in Holy Rosary Mausoleum.

Zair, Geraldine “Gerry” R. (Morgan)

She was formerly of Ft Lee, NJ, and passed away July 31, 2014 in Prairieville. She was born March 21, 1930 in Conway, PA. She was 84. She was a Bookkeeper at Freedom Valvoline Oil, Practical Nurse at the Beaver Valley General Hospital and retired from Sportcraft in New Jersey. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc. 724 W. Main St. Rural Valley, PA.
