Sickle Cell Community Walk/Run set for August
The Baton Rouge Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation (BRSCAF) is hosting its annual sickle cell walk/run on Aug. 16 at North Boulevard Town Square in downtown Baton Rouge.
“People living with sickle cell need public support, so please come out and support a part of our community that needs all of our community,” says the BRSCAF Executive Director Lorri Burgess. ,
Registration begins at 7 a.m. the day of the event. The 5K Run starts at 8 a.m. following the 5k walk 8:15 and One Mile Fun Walk starts at 8:30 a.m.
The cost to participate in the event is $25 per person and $30 per person the day of the event.
The BRSCAF would like for the community to become part of this event that will raise awareness of sickle cell anemia and support families and individuals who battle the disease on a daily basis.
Serving clients in 11 parishes for more than 40 years, the BRSCAF is committed to making a difference in the lives of those suffering from sickle cell disease.
