Parish President Proclaims May 3, 2014 as Relay For Life Day in Ascension Parish

Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez proclaimed May 3, 2014 as “Relay For Life Day in Ascension Parish.” President Martinez presented the proclamation to committee members of the event which, is scheduled to kick off at noon on Saturday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), more than 300,000 men and 275,000 women in the United States will die from cancer in 2014. ACS estimates show there will be more than 855,000 new cancer cases for men and more than 810,000 new cancer cases for women in the U.S occurring this year. “We hope to raise more than we did last year which was $156,000,” said Theresa Bearden.
