Allen, Lisa Marie

A cancer research cell biologist, she passed away on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 31. Visiting was held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Arceneaux, Irene M.

A native and resident of Gonzales, she passed on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at the age of 92. Burial in Hope Haven Cemetery on Hwy 30.

Bratcher, Bobby Wayne "Bob"

Bobby Wayne Bratcher (Bob), 82, of Panama City Beach, Florida passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at Gulf Coast Community Hospital. He was born on Aug.17, 1930 in Nocona, Texas and lived in Bay County, Florida since 1992. He had served as President of the Venture Out Homeowners Association and was looking forward to beginning a new term on the board on Aug. 17. Prior to retiring to Bay County, he lived in Gonzales, Louisiana for 24 years and Amarillo, Texas for 14 years while he worked for Texaco, Incorporated. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory in Gonzales.

Butler, Sherry "Pine"

A resident of Gonzales, she died on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Our Lady of Lake Hospital. She was 48 and a native of Sorrento. Interment in Little Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Diez, Huey Andrew

A resident of Gonzales, founder and former owner of Diez Tire and Supply, he passed away on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2013. He was 84 and a decorated Korean War Veteran. Burial in Cornerview Cemetery.

DeLaune, Virgie Landry

She passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at the age of 87. She was a resident and native of Dutchtown. Burial in Prairieville Cemetery. She was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, St. John Evangelist Altar Society and the Prairieville Cemetery Association.

Epps, Frances Gaskins

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at the age of 90. She was a native of Texas and resident of Prairieivlle. She was married to her loving husband, Howard Mitchell Epps, in 1946 after he returned from his duty in the Navy following WWII. They were married for 67 wonderful years. She taught for 16 years as a special-needs kindergarten teacher at Parkway Presbyterian Church in Metairie. Frances was a woman of great faith who loved the Lord and trusted in Him in all things. God produced great fruit in her life and she demonstrated the love of Christ in everything she did. Frances and Howard enjoyed traveling with the Crusin’ Cajuns and the Les Amie motorhome clubs. She is survived by her loving husband; sons and daughters-in-law, Barry M. Epps and wife Barbara J. Hall, Lt. Col. Danny E. Epps and wife Carol; grandchildren, David M. Epps and wife Melanie, Scott M. Epps and wife Bridgett, Jeremy M. Epps and wife Nicole, Camile Morgan and husband Chip, Raymond J. Epps, Franklin M. Epps; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brooke, Emily, and John David Epps, Brittany and Stephanie Epps, Abigail and Elizabeth Morgan; brother, Arthur Gaskins; and her loving pet dog, Noel.  She is preceded in death by her brother, Ward Gaskins; parents, Winnie Allwine and Arthur Gaskins; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Epps. There will be a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, Friday, Aug, 16, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday, Aug. 17 at First United Methodist Church in Gonzales from 10 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Mark Goins. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum in Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and friends, Ken Judice and Randy Moore. The family would like to extend their gratitude to their family physician, Dr. Cary Aguillard, for his compassionate care throughout the years. Ford, Timothy James

He was 22 and passed away on Aug. 4. 2013. Tim battled Cystic Fibrosis with courage and conquered life with grace. In doing so, he strengthened the faith of others and brought them courage. Burial in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery in Gonzales.

Kling, Jeanette Ray

A native of Slidell and resident of Dutchtown, she passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the age of 79. She was a member of the St. John Altar Society and the Ladies VFW Auxillary. She was retired from the Louisiana State Archives. Entombment will be in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery.

Landry Jr., Joseph

A native of Erwinville and a resident of Gonzales, he passed in Port Allen away as the result of a motorcycle accident on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013. He was 50. A graveside service was held in Port Vincent.

Melancon, Anthony "Tony"

He passed away on Aug. 9, 2013 at 10:20 p.m. at the age of 83. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and belonged to the American Legion Post 81. He was one of the founding members of the Sorrento town council and served as an aide to former Gov. John McKithen. He was a lifelong resident of Sorrento. Entombment in Hope Haven Cemetery.

Smith, Avalon Ann Braud

She was 83 and passed away on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 at 1:45 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She was a native of Prairieville and a resident of Walker. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Stevens, Jynell Landry

Jynell Landry Stevens, age 66, died Friday morning Aug. 9, 2013 “Jeanie” was born on Nov. 2, 1946 in Bell Rose, LA to the late Junius and Anaise Landry. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was married to Darrell Stevens of Morgan City and together they had 4 children. Her beloved children are Troy Stevens and wife Shannon, Brandy Little and husband Richard and deceased twins Jarod and Jarrod Stevens. She deeply loved her grandchildren, Lillian Stevens, Thomas Stevens, Emily Stevens, Robert Little and Cole Little. She was blessed with one great grandchild, Evynn Kendrick. Her surviving siblings are Nelson Landry, Harriet Callegan, and Arnold Landry. Siblings who have preceded her in death are Welton Landry, Elma Rodrigue, Mathilda Blanchard, Shirley Caballero, Beatrice Martin, and Raleigh Landry. Jynell possessed many fruits of the spirit of Christ, and her children and grandchildren were blessed to know this living angel on earth. Goodness followed her. She was joyful and content with all that she had, patient and kind in her manner, and faithful to the Lord. She will be deeply missed. There was a visitation at St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose, Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Merrick, celebrant.
