LeBlanc's Food Stores Blue Ribbon Campaign raises more than $7,000

Each year in April, LeBlanc's Food Stores initiates a Blue Ribbon Campaign to celebrate children and educate thousands of community members with prevention information to keep children safe and our families strong! The Blue Ribbon is an international sign of child abuse prevention awareness. Child Advocacy Services is honored to recognize LeBlanc's Food Stores Blue Ribbon Campaign for raising over $7,000 across the 10 parish service area through the support of the local community and LeBlanc's dedicated associates.
Child abuse impacts every facet of a community, including imposing a financial strain that is preventable. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently reported that the cost of child abuse nationally is $124 billion, equal to the costs of stroke and heart disease1. Researchers from the CDC analyzed 1,740 fatal and 579,000 nonfatal cases of child maltreatment over the course of one year and found that the lifetime cost for each victim of nonfatal child maltreatment was $210,012.
Child Advocacy Services is helping to educate and empower communities through partnerships like LeBlanc's Food Stores. The support generated through the Blue Ribbon Campaign will go to provide clinical and advocacy services as well as prevention education to children throughout Ascension, Assumption, East and West Feliciana, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John, Livingston and Tangipahoa Parishes.
