Shell Chemical LP - Geismar, La. raised $11,891 for Capital Area United Way in the 7th annual Leo R. Broering Golf Tournament held at Pelican Point Golf Club on Saturday, April 27.

Thirty-three teams, consisting of 132 players, gathered to honor the memory of Leo Broering, a Shell Plant Manager who had a passion for golf and passed away tragically while at Geismar. Funds raised will help Capital Area United Way in the three focus areas of education, income and health in the 10-parish area.

"Capital Area United Way is proud to have Shell continue to support our efforts in making our communities better places for all to live," said Richard Williams, Interim President & CEO. "We greatly appreciate their efforts to give back to the communities we serve to advance the common good."

"Shell was pleased to host the Leo Broering Golf Tournament in partnership with Capital Area United Way. All the participants had a fun day of golf with great weather and food from sponsors," stated Roxan Kraft, general manager with Shell. "The funds raised will go to benefit many of our neighbors in the community. It feels good to give a lending hand to our friends and neighbors."
