Veteran's organization collecting items for troops

Ascension Veteran's Association is collecting items for our troops from the National Guard 922nd stationed in Afganistan. The organization is asking for tolietries, food and entertainment items to fill boxes in order to bring some smiles to our heroes overseas.

The drop off point for this collection will be the Gonzales VFW Hall in Gonzales. For those wishing to donate or volunteer may contact Brent Gautreau at (225) 485-7875. Supplies will be collected year-round.

Some of the items needed are protein bars, protein powder, gatorade, Crystal Light, KoolAid, oatmeal, little boxes of cereal, condiments, granola bars, cookies, soup packets, toiletries, eye drops, feminine hygiene products, lip balm in tubes, deodorant, razors, cotton swabs, mouthwash, toothpaste, bug spray, batteries, DVDs, video games, pens, paper, disposable cameras, letters or pictures colored by children, notes, hats, and small flashlights.
