Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced Thursday two parish roads have reopened following the completion of bridge work at those locations.

David Drive and Bishop Woods Road are now open to through traffic, President Martinez said.

A bridge on David Drive, west of Manchac Acres Road, was replaced with three 10 feet by 7 feet box culverts. Work began on Feb. 25 and was scheduled for completion in July but crews from East Ascension Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 1 finished the installation of culverts last week, officials said.

"I want to commend those crews for completing their culvert installation work in a shorter time frame which restored road travel for the residents of that area," President Martinez said.

Culvert repairs were also completed at a bridge crossing on Bishop Woods Road just north of the La. 621 intersection.

Repaving at both locations is scheduled for a later date, officials said.
