Mike Anderson's Seafood Restaurant and Cox Communications played host to the Ascension Chamber of Commerce Spring Fling at the Clarion Inn Conference Center in Gonzales.

This outdoor event kicked off at 4 p.m., April 25, attracting approximately 80 chamber members. Guests were treated to outstanding food and drinks provided by Mike Anderson's and other chamber businesses. Entertainment included music and a drawing for door prizes. Almost everyone attending walked away with a nice gift donated from area companies.

Sherrie Despino, Ascension Chamber president/CEO, said this was the second year for the Spring Fling.

"It's a great afternoon event for Chamber members to get together to relax and enjoy food, drinks and music while networking," she said.

Kim Stephens of River Parishes Community College said that is why she attended.

"It's a great opportunity for networking and promoting RPCC," she said. "We want to remind everyone of the new campus we're building. Also, this is a good event. I was here last year and I enjoyed it."

Cheryl Rice, an employment coordinator for The Arc of East Ascension, said she attends many Chamber events throughout the year.

"I'm an Ambassador for the Chamber," she said.

Rice said on any given month the Chamber offers a variety of events for its members and guests, such as monthly business luncheons, ribbon-cuttings and after hours networking mixers.

"Whenever the Chamber hosts an event, it's always a good event," she said.
