Deadlines are approaching for the state and its agencies, local governments, certain private nonprofit organizations and federally recognized tribal governments to submit a Request for Public Assistance (RPA) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Deadlines to submit RPAs for all categories of work are:

Oct. 21: Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Livingston, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. John and West Feliciana.

Supplemental funding under FEMA's Public Assistance program is provided to the state and then forwarded to its eligible agencies, local governments, certain private nonprofit organizations and federally recognized tribal governments. Under the program, FEMA obligates funds to the state for 75 percent of eligible costs, while the applicant covers the remaining 25 percent.
