'Redeemed Home Makeover' now in progress to help Ascension family

In 2005, a tragic accident on 1-10, left Jenny Shaddinger a young widow with five small children.

Since that fateful day, the family has lived in a 40-year-old 980-square-foot mobile home that is deteriorating and beyond repair. Jenny is employed by the Ascension Parish School Board. She and her five children ages 9, 11, 15, 17 and 18 have held their faith in Jesus Christ and the hopes of a better place to call home.

The Shaddinger's have been members of The Rock Church in Gonzales since 2006, The family is involved in music, teaching, and other ministries at the church. It was a passage in the Bible that led Pastor Blake Melancon to start "Redeemed Home Makeover." A ministry between church and community to meet the needs of a widow and her family.

After much prayer a modular home was purchased being the most cost effective and quickest way to get the Shaddingers into a newer/bigger home. The five children had been sharing two small overcrowded rooms.

Through the years, Jennifer has never lost faith that her prayers would be answered. Shaddinger said her church family and community members have helped provide "the things that children need since my husband died....and they are doing it again.

The Rock Church family and community members are pulling together to help this family through fundraisers to help offset all expenses of moving, setting up, finishing and paying off their new home. If you would like to help a widow and her five children in need, you will be blessed by giving.
