Joint Health and Welfare Committee to hold meeting on budget cuts

The House Joint Health and Welfare Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at 1:30 p.m., to discuss the recent cuts to the LSU health care system that stem from a reduction in federal Medicaid financing.

"These changes will have a major impact on the way health care is delivered to our citizens," said Speaker Kleckley. "As a legislature, we need to be informed and voice the concerns of our constituents. Many members of the Louisiana Legislature are frustrated by the lack of information they have received regarding closures and cuts being made around the state. By working together and sharing ideas, other solutions may present themselves," added Kleckley.

The meeting will be held in House Committee Room 5.
