Recycling Road Show scheduled for Sat., June 1

Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced Friday the Ascension Parish Recycling Road Show will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Wal-Mart store in Prairieville. A recycling vehicle will be stationed in the parking lot from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
The types of material being accepted at the Recycling Road Show include:
· Newspapers and magazines, including catalogs, phone books and paperback books, mail, colored paper and envelopes
· Milk and juice cartons
· Cardboard, including detergent and cereal boxes, 12-pack drink cartons and flattened boxes
· Aluminum, tin or bimetal cans and metal lids
· No. 1 through No. 7 plastic containers
The Recycling Road Show is not accepting glass, aerosol cans, wire hangers, bags, hangers, caps, lids, six-pack rings, photos, carbon paper, wax-coated frozen food packaging, take-out food containers and chemical containers.
Ascension Parish Environmental Manager Don Hysell said 124 parish residents dropped off a total of 3.5 tons of recyclable materials at the May 4 Recycling Road Show.
Hysell said parish residents have dropped off more than 17 tons of recyclable materials so far this year including 4.32 tons in January, 3.1 tons in February, 3.2 tons in March and 3.2 tons in April.
