At the end of June, the cheerleaders from Galvez Middle School participated in a private camp with instructors from the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA). During their training, the squad learned many cheers, dances and new stunts to wow their crowds during the school year. As always, the cheerleaders held a show-off at the end of instruction, but this year, they wanted to make a bigger impact. For years, Varsity and UCA have teamed up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to support its mission of finding cures for children with cancer and other illnesses. This year at the show-off, the cheerleaders asked for all spectators to donate money upon entry, with all money raised going right to St. Jude in honor of another cheerleader in the community, Breanna Bercegeay. The squad is proud to announce that over $400 was raised from this event and is so thankful to the community for showing their support in this mission.
