U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) today announced that he and Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-La.) will conduct a Service Academy Day on Saturday September 7 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Louisiana State Museum in Baton Rouge. Vitter and Cassidy have invited representatives from the Military, Air Force, Naval, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard Academies who will be able to explain the nomination process to potential applicants and the requirements for applying to each academy.

"Attending a service academy is a real honor and a great opportunity for students to serve our country and obtain a post-secondary education," Vitter said. "I'm proud to host this event. It's sure to be an excellent opportunity for students and their families to learn more about the academies."

Service Academy Day is free and open to the public. All high school students and their parents are welcome to attend. Students who are unable to attend can contact Vitter's office in Metairie at (504) 589-2753 for more information on the application process.
