St. Amant FFA racks up at 83rd Louisiana State FFA Convention
St. Amant FFA attended the 84th Louisiana FFA State Convention in Alexandria. This convention was held June 4 - 7.
St. Amant FFA was recognized as a Gold Emblem FFA Chapter in the National Chapter Award Program. This ranks them in the Top 8 FFA Chapters in the State and earns them the opportunity to compete on a National Level in October.
Five FFA members took top honors for developing an excellent supervised agricultural experience program. (SAE) The supervised agricultural experiences is one of three integrated parts of agricultural education program alongside classroom instruction and FFA activities designed to improve FFA members’ skills for further careers. SAE projects can be entered in one of 49 national FFA Proficiency Award Areas- ranging from Agricultural Communications to Wildlife management.

Miranda Thompson: Specialty Animal Production 1st place
Alanna Stroughter: Veterinary Science 1st place
Austin Carter: Ag Education 3rd place
Blaze Pertuis: Ag Sales 4th place
These members received the State FFA Degree, which is the highest degree that can be earned at a state level. The Degree program is based on a students SAE, FFA involvement and service hours.

St. Amant FFA members served as Courtesy Corps members throughout the week at convention. They assisted at the sessions and other events that week to help the convention run smoothly.
Those members that participated in Courtesy Corps were: Haylie Heath, Megan Bordelon, Tylor Cain, Jacob Smith, Tyler Alleman, Corey Alleman, Rod Hunt, Katie Costanza and Bryce Gautreau
While at convention FFA members attended sessions filled with motivational guest speakers, observed State speaking contest, heard retiring addresses, attended leadership workshops, and participated in the official delegate meetings to elect a new slate of State FFA Officers.
