Students at The Garden School in Prairieville recently visited the LSU Burden Center.

The Burden Center in Baton Rouge is an oasis for garden and nature lovers for all ages. Situated on a 440-acre tract, the station is home to a wide array of projects on turfgrass, vegetable and fruit crops, and ornamentals.

Among the aims of the visit were to expose students to the detailed and interactive learning experiences at the children's garden.

Students were given back packs filled with magnifying glasses, tape measure, note book, markers, and art supplies. When the students were done exploring, their parents helped them create artistic renderings of the flowers and plants they had seen on their field trip.

"We really enjoyed ourselves!" said a spokesperson for the school, thanking The Burden Center for hosting them.
