Gonzales Middle School, along with students from the entire parish, auditioned in December for the District IV honor band. This year, six talented young musicians were chosen to represent Gonzales Middle School as members of the District IV Honor Band. "They had a blast in Hammond during Honor Band weekend as they got the opportunity to work with their clinician, Katy Strickland," said a school spokesperson. "They even found time to go bowling in between their 12 hours of rehearsing before the concert. This year was extra special because it was the 40th anniversary of the District IV Honor Band event. What a wonderful experience this has been for our students to visit South Eastern Louisiana University, make many new friends, and perform challenging and exciting music with the best of the best from Ascension Parish!" GOMS New Letter students are, from left, top row: Stephan Nicol (tuba), Michael Nwokorie (Bass Clarinet) and Timothy Gonzales (Bass Clarinet); and bottom row: Drayk Blair (French Horn), Brandon Gordon (Clarinet) and Emma Stoeckle (French Horn).
