La. Rep. Johnny Berthelot (District 88) reported receiving a very patriotic email from Brian and Matthew Fletcher, Boy Scouts with the Ascension Parish Boy Scout Troop 769. The boys with help from their mother Pamala Fletcher enlisted Representative Berthelot and several other local officials to donate Louisiana State flags to all the public schools in Ascension Parish.

This was quite an undertaking for the boys as well as the school board. The boys stated: " The reason we wanted to do this because a lot of the schools do not fly any flags and the ones that do are flying older flags."

At the Nov. 20, 2012 school board meeting, State Representative Johnny Berthelot, State Representative Clay Schexnayder District 81, State Representative Ed Price District 58 and Senator Jody Amedee District 18 were honored to purchase and present these young patriots with 25 Louisiana State Flags.

The officials said special thanks to Johnnie Balfantz and the Ascension Parish School Board for helping to make sure all the schools had flag poles. They said they were so proud to be able to participate.
