Ascension Parish NAACP awards scholarships

Six seniors from the four public high schools in Ascension Parish were each awarded a $500 scholarship from the Ascension Parish NAACP.

Six seniors from the four public high schools in Ascension Parish were each awarded a $500 scholarship from the Ascension Parish NAACP.  The students  were praised for their hard work and dedication to their school work. The students receiving scholarships were: Chelsie Kreamer and Joan Marie Lewis of Donaldsonville High School;  Emily Harvey of Dutchtown High School;  Loriann Jones and Priscilla Neal of East Ascension High School; and, Grant Blanchard of St. Amant High School. The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. The winners are, from left,  Chelsie Kreamer, Joan Marie Lewis, Emily Harvey, Loriann Jones, Priscilla Neal and Grant Blanchard.
