Area teachers enjoy a sunny afternoon with food and drink on Mezza Luna’s beautiful patio.

After a stressful week of work, Ascension Parish teachers enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at Gio’s Mezza Luna restaurant in Prairieville on Friday.

From 3 p.m.- 7 p.m., faculty and staff from different schools in the area mingled with each other as they dined on fine Italian food at Mezza Luna’s Teacher Appreciation Day. Teachers also enjoyed the 2-for-1 drink specials on the restaurant’s patio on the beautiful, sunny spring day.

“We have a lot of teachers that are customers,” said Mezza Luna manager, Rick DeRouen. “A lot of them are under-paid and under-appreciated, we wanted to have this teacher appreciation day as a way to show our love and support for them.”

Gios’ Mezza Luna offers a unique blend of Louisiana and Italian cuisine perfected by award winning chefs.

With a large selection of appetizers, healthy salads, flavorful entrees, sandwiches, succulent steaks, mouth watering seafood, pasta, freshly made homemade desserts as well as a children’s menu, Mezza Luna has something to please every one. Fine wines and mixed drinks are also available.
