EATEL recently held a ceremony honoring 10 Ascension Parish educators with $500 grants to support innovative teaching programs that are designed to enrich the classroom experience.

The “Reach A Kid, Teach A Kid” program provides teachers with the funds needed to implement unique and exciting classroom lessons used to inspire and motivate students to learn.

For more than a decade, the annual program has helped fund special projects at local schools, impacting hundreds of primary, middle and high school students each year. To date, EATEL has awarded more than $60,000 in teacher grants.

“EATEL will continue to fund educational projects that deepen the involvement of both teachers and students, stimulate the in-class learning process and produce measurable benefits for the students involved,” said Robert Burgess, president and chief operating officer of EATEL.
