Dutchtown High School celebrates homecoming festivities this week.

The community is invited to take part in the school's annual homecoming parade.

The Griffin Glide will begin in the parking lot at Dutchtown High at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24.

Various clubs and sports teams have created floats incorporating the homecoming theme “It’s A Pirates Life For Me.”

For the first time in school history, the parade route has been expanded and is planned to go off campus.

With this, Dutchtown is hoping to make the new tradition a community event.

“Come out to support your local Griffins and don’t forget a bag to carry your loot,” said Matt Monceaux.

The parade will start on Dutchtown’s campus, travel across Highway 73 into the Cobblestone Subdivision on Cobblestone Drive.

It will then turn right on Dutch Street, then take another right on John Street.

The parade will cross Highway 73 again traveling back onto Dutchtown High School campus back of the campus near the football stadium where the parade will end. There will be a short pep rally there.

The Griffins will host St. John for their homecoming game Friday night at Griffin Field.
