EATEL grant aids young authors

Staff reports

Kicking off the new school year, EATEL’s Imagination Press Book Grant is back for the third consecutive year.

EATEL is inviting local second-, third- and fourth-grade teachers in the Ascension Parish Public School System to apply for one of 12 Imagination Press Book grants.

Each year, winning classes write their own stories, design their own art, prepare their books for publication and, in conjunction with Internet-based photo book publisher Picaboo, EATEL publishes their work into their own hardbound book.

Imagination Press applications are currently being accepted and can be found online at www.eatel.com/imagination.

All entries will be judged on concept originality and creativity, and the project submission deadline is Monday, Sept. 28.

Teachers may submit one grant application for each class or section taught. A teacher applying for multiple grants may submit a unique idea with each grant submission.

Students in each class will receive a copy of their book in December to share with family and friends and keep as a memento from their school year. The books will also be given to the school library for other students to enjoy.
