DONALDSONVILLE – The Ascension Parish School Board will announce Tuesday the appointment of a new athletic director and head football coach for Donaldsonvile High School.

The board is scheduled to make the announcement at its regular meeting to be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the School Board Office in Donaldsonville.

The board's Personnel Committee recently interviewed three candidates to replace Gary Adkins, who resigned the position last month.

Adkins remains on the staff as a teacher.

One of the candidates interviewed for the position is already employed in an Ascension Parish school. Dwayne Thomassee is currently an assistant coach at St. Amant High School. He previously served as head football coach at Ascension Catholic High School in Donaldsonville.

Benny Guilbeaux, an assistant coach at East St. John High School in Reserve, and Terence Williams, head coach at Leesville High School, also were interviewed.

Donaldsonville High recently replaced Principal Gwen Boudreaux, who resigned at the end of the school year.

Esrom Pitre, Ph.D., who was an assistant principal at the school, replaced Boudreaux as principal.
