GED graduates recognized at Hunt Correctional Center

ST. GABRIEL – Elayn Hunt Correctional Center held a ceremony May 20 for its 204 GED graduates.

Since last May, 111 students have earned a General Equivalency Diploma, with 73 of those graduates also commpleting a vocational training program through the Louisiana Technical College or the EHCC Education Department.

A total of 473 students completed the EHCC and LTC programs.

This year, 83 percent of Intensive Motivational Program of Correctional Treatment graduates who completed a vocational-technical class were placed in employment in their field with the assistance of an employment counselor. In the Job Skills Educational Program, 440 students completed 665 various courses.
