Donaldsonville native to address Nicholls graduates

THIBODAUX – The Hon. Yvette Kane, a Donaldsonville native and chief judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker for commencement exercises at Nicholls State University.

More than 550 degrees will be conferred Saturday, May 23 in Stopher Gymnasium.

Kane is a 1973 Nicholls graduate. After receiving a sociology degree, she went on to receive a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Tulane Law School.

President Bill Clinton nominated Kane to a seat on the U.S. District Court in Pennsylvania in 1998. She has served as chief judge for the district since 2006.
