Dutchtown High Beta Club brings home trophies

Thirty-three members of the Dutchtown High School Beta Club recently attended the Louisiana State Senior Beta Convention at the Baton Rouge River Center.
Students participated in varied competitions showcasing their academic and artistic talents.
Seven students brought home trophies for their efforts: John Lambert, first place, Social Studies; Morgan Broussard, first place, creative writing; Megan McDonald, first place, sewing and “Best of Show” for crafts; Jeff Boudreaux, second place, math; Shauni Courville, second place, French; Meredith McDonald, second place, black and white photography; and Caitlin Ballotta, third place, English. John Lambert, Morgan Broussard, Jeff Boudreaux and Caitlin Ballotta received invitations to compete at national convention in Orlando, Florida in June.
Additionally, the following students placed in the top ten in their categories: Lindsay Eubanks and Taylor Kleinpeter, Scrapbook; Anna Ferrell and Chanie Mire, Banner; Jimmy Doan, On-Site Art, Pencil Drawing; and Hannah Richardson, Spelling. The quiz bowl team, Jeff Boudreaux, Ian Hanlon, Ferris McDaniel, Spencer May, Jennifer Villarrubia and Meredith Burton, advanced to the quarter final round. There were some 135 schools and 3800 students from throughout the state who attended and competed.
