Masterpieces by Little Masters
Annick Guilmot’s Galvez Primary fourth-grade students have been learning about the French Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cezanne. After discovering Cezanne’s life and work they choose one of Cezanne’s still-life or landscapes to reproduce. This unit is part of the threefold Ascension Fund Grant called “Masterpieces by Little Masters” that will enable the students to discover and imitate famous painters. “Students were very eager to paint as they seldom have the opportunity to do so in class,”?said a school spokesperson. The project was sponsored by Whitney National Bank. Top, Christian Nielson and Claire Renegar enjoy working on their own masterpiece. Above, Kayne Moran, Emilee Villar, Billie Jo Savoy, and Abby May create their own masterpiece after exploring the life and art of Paul Cezanne.
