EATEL offers high school seniors laptops
Ascension and Livingston public high school seniors have until April 1 to apply for a chance to win a laptop computer through the EATEL Technology Fund Scholarship program.
The scholarship application process is open to local seniors who intend to major in a technology field – mathematics, basic sciences, computer technology, information technology, engineering, multi-media or business management – at a Louisiana accredited college or university.
Seniors from East Ascension, French Settlement, Maurepas, Dutchtown, St. Amant and Donaldsonville high schools are eligible to apply for the grant. One winner from each school will receive a new laptop. Students can pick up applications from their school’s guidance counselor.
Applicants must have an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and actively participate in school and community activities. To be considered for the award, completed applications must be returned to the student’s counselor by April 1. Winners will be chosen by a guidance counselor from each school and will be announced mid-April.
“Laptops play an important role in the life of today’s college student,” Trae Russell, EATEL communications manager, said in a news release.
“Professors post assignments, grades and important messages online, and many classes will require students to work in groups and on the go, so helping to add a new laptop to their academic arsenal for success is gratifying.”
