Fire officials contain fire at La. 42 residence

On Thursday, Jan. 21, Fire Protection District # 1 firefighters and apparatus from the Galvez-Lake VFD and 7th District Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in a residence in the area of La. 42 and Manchac Point Road.

Firefighters contained the fire to the bathroom which was the room of origin. The door had been closed which prevented the fire from spreading. The residents were alerted by the house’s smoke alarms.

Fire officials credit the working alarms and the closed door from preventing major damage to the house.
