Ascension Emergency Responders complete Haz-Mat course

Seven Ascension Parish Emergency Responders completed a 40-our Hazardous Materials Technician Course at the St. Amant Volunteer Fire last week, which was instructed by Mike Lofton Training Consultants.

The 40-hour Certified Course certifies these seven responders as Haz-Mat Technicians.

During the course the Ascension Emergency Responders were instructed on Incident Command, Levels of PPE Protection for Responders, Characteristics of Hazardous Materials, Confinement and Containment of Hazardous Materials, SCBA Orientation, Level A.B & C Haz-Mat Suits, Air Monitoring, and Scene Size-up.

In addition, the group participated in several drills throughout the week.
