La. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning and Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley discuss “Operation Save-A-Life” at its launch event Monday night at the Sheriff's Training Center.

"Operation Save-A-Life" was created to combat the rise in fire related injury and deaths due to home fires.

The goal of this statewide initiative is to dramatically reduce fire related death across the State of Louisiana by installing smoke alarms to vulnerable citizens and at-risk communities.

Through the program residents can request to have a free smoke alarm installed in their home. An application is attached.
