Former EAHS teacher arrested for sexual misconduct with student

    After a week-long investigation, the Gonzales Police Dept. has issued an arrest warrant, and as of today (March 25), has taken custody of 34-year-old  Louis Carl Aguillard, a former occupational heath curriculum teacher and assistant athletic trainer at East Ascension High School (EAHS).

     Working in concert with the administration of EAHS and members of the Ascension Parish School Board, Aguillard, of 39340 Hunters Trace, Prairieville, was taken into to custody after recent allegations were made that he was having inappropriate sexual contact with a 17-year-old student.

     As a result of the investigation, Aguillard has been charged with one count prohibited sexual conduct between educator and student (lewd and lascivious acts) first offense, one count prohibited sexual conduct between educator and student (sexual intercourse) second offense, and one count malfeasance in office. He was transferred to the custody of Ascension Parish Prison for booking and bond consideration.

     Shortly after his arrest, a statement was sent out from the Ascension Parish Public Schools superintendent, A. Denise Graves.

     “Today, the Gonzales Police Department arrested a former East Ascension High School teacher and assistant athletic trainer for prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and student,” Graves said. “The safety of our students is of the utmost importance to our district. Please know that the Ascension Parish School Board requires a criminal background check prior to employment and has a zero tolerance policy in regards to inappropriate contact between students and staff.”
