Ockman trial begins, Tripp trial delayed

Leslie D. Rose
Owen Ockman.

The trial begins for Owen Ockman, the 35-year-old, former Sorrento and Gonzales police officer charged with one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile, with the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc presiding.

The indictment lists the alleged acts as having occurred from May 1, 2009 to Aug. 31, 2011.

Ockman was arrested in Ascension Parish on July 10, 2013, when he later, the same day, posted a $7,500 bond.

The Ockman trial has already been delayed twice this year, and according to an update from the 23rd Judicial District Attorney's office, the Aug. 19 start date forces a delay to the trial of Todd Tripp – the 26-year-old, former Ascension Parish deputy who was arrested and booked, March 26, on charges of possessing pornography involving a juvenile and computer-aided solicitation of a minor.

No update on when The Tripp trial will begin. Has been given.
