Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office launches Tip 411 Android and iPhone app

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Officehas launched Tip 411 app for Android and iPhone devices that enables the public to send anonymous tips to the police and lets the police respond back, creating a two way anonymous "chat."

Developed by CitizenObserver, a St. Paul MN company, Tip 411puts a powerful new crime fighting tool into the hands of our community for all ages and demographics.

According to Sheriff Jeff Wiley, this capability is a new paradigm for creating safer communities – especially in reaching out to a younger age demographic.

"We're proud to make this technology available to our citizens free of charge. This tool, along with our existing tip411 program, will help our citizens play an active role in keeping neighborhoods safer, it will engage people of all ages in the process and it will save our agency time and resources. "

Citizens can also send an anonymous tip to us by texting the word APSOand their tip to 847411. Anonymous web tips can be submitted from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office website at

Its 100 percent anonymous, and CitizenObserver's technology removes all identifying information before the police department see's it so there's no way to identify the sender.
