In an effort to combat crime and keep neighborhoods safe, the Ascension Sheriff's Office is hosting National Night Out.

The event will take place from 4-8 p.m. tonight, April 4, at the Public Safety Building, 13192 Airline Highway across from Sno's Seafood Restaurant.

I hope to see you there.

National Night Out events like this are designed to (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know we are organized and fighting back.

This is a night for us to stand together to promote awareness, safety and unity.

It's also going to be a lot of fun. Besides getting to meet members of local law enforcement and getting some great tips on preventing crime, free jambalaya and cold drinks will be served!

So come out and bring the kids.

National Night Out is a great opportunity to meet others in the community who want to keep Ascension Parish a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
