Three arrested on heroin charges

Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Lt. Col. Bobby Webre reported multiple arrests following a two-week investigation of a Gonzales man selling Heroin.

In mid-March, 2013 the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division began an investigation into Robert "Bob" Stafford selling Heroin in Ascension Parish.

On April 1, narcotics detectives observed Robert Stafford and Brittany Medine conducting a drug transaction in the parking lot of a local business in Gonzales. Narcotics detectives arrested Stafford and Medine and found them to be in possession of heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives also seized a large quantity of cash from proceeds of drug transactions conducted by Stafford. Detectives also arrested Wiley Mahurin Jr. for possession of the heroin he purchased from Stafford. The three suspects were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.

Robert Byron Stafford, 37, of 41302 Cannon Road, Gonzales was charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS (heroin), possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS (marijuana), distribution of schedule I CDS (heroin), and possession with intent to distribute schedule II CDS (cocaine). He is currently incarcerated at the Ascension Parish Jail and his bond has been set by Judge Turner at $155,342.50.

Brittany Leshay Medine, 29, of 41302 Cannon Road, Gonzales was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule II CDS (cocaine), principal/possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS (heroin), principal/distribution of schedule I CDS (heroin), principal/possession with intent to distribute schedule II CDS (cocaine), and failure to appear in court. She is currently incarcerated at the Ascension Parish Jail and her bond has been set by Judge Turner at $160,342.50.

Wiley E. Mahurin Jr., 43, of 42494 Hwy 621, Gonzales was charged with possession of schedule I CDS (heroin), and two counts contempt of court. He is currently incarcerated at the Ascension Parish Jail and his bond has been set by Judge Turner at $25,000.
