Arrests made in Donaldsonville shooting

Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Sheriff Jeff Wiley reported that on Thursday afternoon, March 28, deputies responded to a large disturbance near Elizabeth Street and Front Street in Donaldsonville. The disturbance resulted in a shooting where one subject was injured and remains hospitalized.

During the investigation, deputies arrested and charged Charles Ealem, 43, of Donaldsonville for attempted second-degree murder. Continued investigation resulted in the arrest of Jardell Pleasant, 20, of Donaldsonville for Disturbing the Peace by Fistic Encounter; he is currently incarcerated at the Ascension Parish Jail.

This investigation is ongoing and more arrests will follow.
