Ascension Parish Major Kevin Hanna reported the arrest of a contract worker at Honeywell Chemical Plant in Geismar following a two week investigation.

On Jan. 28th the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office received reports from Honeywell that off road diesel fuel (red diesel) was being stolen from their loading dock. According to Honeywell calculations approximately 300 gallons of the off road diesel fuel had been stolen. Honeywell owns the dock however it is staffed by contract workers from Kinder Morgan, Hanna said.

Early on during the investigation a Kinder Morgan employee, Jerry McBride, 49, was developed as a suspect in the fuel theft. During the course of the investigation detectives gathered sufficient probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant on McBride for theft.

On Feb. 7, Jerry McBride was arrested at his home located at 35724 Melrose Avenue Denham Springs. He was booked in to the Ascension Parish jail on one count of felony theft. He is still incarcerated on a $5,000 set by Judge Alvin Turner.
