Teen charged in shooting another teen

Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a 14-year-old in the alleged accidental shooting death of 13-year-old Christian Crain.

Lt. Col. Bobby Webre reported that deputies responded to 14269 Oak Meadow Street in Prairieville and learned that a 13-year-old had been shot in the head while playing in a bedroom with two other teens. Throughout the investigation it was learned that the gun used, a dark colored revolver style 38 special revolver was stolen from a vehicle in a nearby neighborhood a few days prior to the shooting.

The 14-year-old confessed to accidentally shooting Crain and disposing of the gun in the backyard of the residence. He also confessed to smoking marijuana prior to the shooting, and marijuana was located in the room where Crain was found.

The juvenile was booked into the St. James Detention Center on charges of negligent homicide, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana, and possession of a handgun by a minor.

There were three adults home during the incident that were also arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.

Judy Himel, 44, Danielle Gaudin, 25, and Devin Himel, 18 all of 14269 Oak Meadow Street were booked and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
