Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Lt. Col. Bobby Webre reported a three-year-old boy died Thursday evening in Prairieville after a ranch cart he was riding in rolled over, pinning him underneath.

Lt. Col. Webre said Remington Roussel died in St. Elizabeth Hospital's emergency room shortly after 4 p.m.

Roussel was riding the ranch cart with his brother and his grandmother on her daily routine to feed animals. His grandmother suffered a seizure and suddenly hit a storage shed causing the ranch cart to overturn and trapping the three- year- old under the cart.

Roussel was transported by paramedics to the hospital where he died from massive trauma to the head. His death is still being investigated by the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, but preliminary reports seem to indicate that this was an accidental death.
