Following a mid-morning traffic stop on Interstate 10 near the LA Hwy 77 exit, Louisiana State Police Troopers patrolling the Troop A region discovered 7 kilos of cocaine resulting in the arrest of three suspects on drug charges.

The traffic stop occurred shortly after 10 a.m. Friday morning after Troopers observed a traffic violation committed by two vehicles traveling together eastbound on Interstate 10. As Troopers made contact with the vehicles, a 2003 Honda Accord driven by 42 year old Belinda Ware of Phenix City, AL and a 2004 Ford pickup driven by 41 year old Anthony Kimbrough of Columbus, GA, they obtained consent from each driver for a search of the vehicles resulting in the narcotics seizure.

Both drivers and an additional passenger in the Ford pickup, 51-year-old Christopher Cherry of Columbus, Ga., were placed under arrest and subsequently booked into the Iberville Parish Jail.

The estimated street value of the 7 kilos is over $140,000.
