Voter registration deadlines set

The voter registration deadline for the Nov. 6, 2012 Open Primary Election is Tues., Oct. 9, 2012 due to Columbus Day falling on Mon., Oct. 8, 2012. If any person whose name is not on the list of registered voters maintained by the Secretary of State desires to vote in the 2012 Open Primary / Congressional / Presidential Election, such person shall make application by the close of business on this date. Those who wish to make changes to their current voter registration must also submit by this date.

Voters who want to vote early for any election may do so in person at the parish Registrar of Voters office from 14 days to 7 days prior to any scheduled election. Early (In-Person) Voting for the election begins Tues., Oct. 23, 2012 and runs through Tues., October 30. 

The Registrar of Voters will open its offices from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for each day of early voting.  When you go to cast your vote, you will be asked to identify yourself with a photo ID. You may use a driver's license, a Louisiana Special ID or some other generally recognized picture ID that has your name and signature.
