'Operation Outlaw' continues

Staff report
Arthur MacGuire

Ascension Parish Lieutenant Colonel Bobby Webre reports that “OPERATION OUTLAW” is still ongoing.  The Sheriff Office continues to deploy a task force for the operation and the initiative is targeting defendants that failed to appear in court in the 23rd Judicial District in Ascension Parish.  As a result the district court has issued “Felony Bench Warrants” for failure to appear.

As mentioned in an earlier press release this initiative will air each week with a photograph and name of the “WANTED PERSON”, Webre said.

Arthur MacGuire, 20, of 13502 Burnt Pecan Gonzales, Louisiana has one outstanding bench warrant for felony theft.

Brandon Stephens, 27, of 39158 Le Stephens Road Prairieville, Louisiana has one outstanding bench warrant for possession of schedule II CDS (F).

In this particular case the Sheriff’s Office is compelled to air Jerry A. Cortez, Jr., 55, of 12428 Beco Road St. Amant, Louisiana as a wanted person, Webre said. Although he is not wanted for outstanding felony warrants Cortez is wanted on an array of misdemeanor bench warrants, civil warrants, Justice of the Peace warrants, and District Attorney Warrants. Cortez is wanted for 6 counts of misdemeanor bench warrants that include: criminal damage to property, driving without valid license, driving under suspension, possession of alcohol, no proof of insurance, open container, no insurance, DWI 2nd, improper lane usage, probation violation for DWI 2nd, IWC, domestic abuse battery. He is wanted for 5 counts of civil bench warrants. The Justice of the Peace issued warrants on Cortez for 5 counts of issuing worthless checks and 6 counts of misdemeanor theft by fraud. The District Attorney’s Office has warrants on Cortez for 3 counts of issuing of worthless checks.
