Safe found in Livingston is from Marchand home
Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley reports his investigators with the assistance of Louisiana State Police Crime Lab and the United States Marshal Service have gathered additional information during the course of the double homicide investigation. The safe that was recently recovered in Livingston Parish was identified as the safe that was stolen from the Marchand residence. Ascension Parish Investigators and LSP Crime Lab Technicians working along with technicians from Alford Safe and Lock Company were able to open the safe.
Once the safe was opened, a single Morgan Silver Dollar was found within the safe. The coin was packaged in a protective sleeve containing hand written notes about the coin such as the year, condition, and inventory number. This information was compared to the inventory obtained from the Marchand residence earlier in the investigation. The information matched.
Additional information obtained from a family friend indicated that there may have been additional silver coins along with silver certificate paper currency contained in the safe. However, the total value of items contained in the safe is still unknown.
Sheriff Wiley reports the exact time of the crime is becoming much clearer as the investigation unfolds; information from the crime scene and digital analysis from cell phones, computers and video have been helpful.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to work diligently to identify and capture the ones who committed this horrific crime. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at 225-621-INFO (4636).
