Drivers communting after a heavy work day were hit by an unexpected brief storm in the parish, leaving damage in its wake, by a rash of Straight Line Winds, according to the National Weather Service in Slidell.

Martinez Seafood, on the corner of Hwy 431 and Black Bayou Road, saw the roof ripped off of the building as heavy winds came through the area.

Fortunately no injuries were reported, and the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department responded quickly, ensuring that everyone in the area was safe.

They also responded to other calls in the area, and to a few wrecks caused by the weather.
