Sheriff searching for vehicle seen leaving Darrow murder scene

Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeffrey Wiley is asking for the public's assistance in solving a June 27 homicide that occurred at a home in Astroland Subdivision in Darrow.

Ascension authorities responded to the call at 39068 Venus Street in the subdivision after the body of 19-year-old Darin Keith Smylie was found in the home shot to death.

Authorities are searching for a vehicle that was seen leaving the victim's home between the hours of 2 and 3 pm. The vehicle is described as a 1994 to 2004 Chevy S-10 or GMC Sonoma extended cab truck, white in color, similar to the one shown in the picture. Additionally, a witness describes the truck as having a dark colored pen stripe down the side, located above the black molding. The rear and side windows are tinted.

225-344-STOP (7867).  A $1,000 reward is being offered by the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office for any information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for the murder.
