PUBLIC NOTICE

LOUISIANA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (LDEQ)

ASCENSION WASTEWATER TREATMENT, INC / KEYSTONE OF GALVEZ SUBDIVISION

DRAFT WATER DISCHARGE PERMIT MODIFICATION

The LDEQ, Office of Environmental Services, is accepting written comments on a draft modification of a Louisiana Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (LPDES) permit prepared for Ascension Wastewater Treatment, Inc, Keystone of Galvez Subdivision, 17188 Airline Highway, Suite M-157, Prairieville, LA 70769.  The facility is located at 16088 Timberstone Drive in Prairieville, Ascension Parish.

The principal discharge from this  source  made into Henderson Bayou, thence into the Amite River, waters of the state classified for primary contact recreation, secondary contact recreation and propogation of Fish and Wildlife.  Under the SIC  4952, the applicant proposes to discharge treated sanitary wastewater from a privately owned treatment facility serving the Keystone of Galvez Subdivision.

During the preparation of this permit, it has been determined that the discharge will have no adverse impact on the existing uses of the receiving waterbody.  As with any discharge, however, some change in existing water quality may occur.

This permit is being modified to ALLOW FOR AN INCREASE IN FLOW FROM  0.105 MGD TO 0.253 MGD TO ACCOMMODATE THE ADDTION OF 356 HOMES IN THE SUBDIVISION AND 27,000 SQUARE FEET OF RETAIL SPACE.  In accordance with LAC 33:IX.3105.B.2, only those permit limitations and conditions pertaining to the draft modifications are open to public comment.

Written comments, written requests for a public hearing or written requests for notification of the final decision regarding this permit action may be submitted to LDEQ, Public Participation Group, P.O. Box 4313, Baton Rouge, LA 70821-4313.  Written comments and/or written requests must be received by 12:30 p.m., TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2011.  Written comments will be considered prior to a final permit decision.

The application, draft major modification and  are available for review at the LDEQ, Public Records Center, Room 127, 602 North 5th Street, Baton Rouge, LA.  Viewing hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (except holidays).  The available information can also be accessed electronically on the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) on the DEQ public website at www.deq.louisiana.gov.
